Firebox Theatre Company presents Brian Friel’s heartfelt play, Dancing at Lughnasa!

This extraordinary play is the story of five unmarried sisters eking out their lives in a small village in Ireland in 1936. We meet them at the time of the festival of Lughnasa, which celebrates the pagan god of the harvest with drunken revelry and dancing. Their spare existence is interrupted by brief, colorful bursts of music from the radio, their only link to the romance and hope of the world at large. Widely regarded as Brian Friel's masterpiece, this haunting play is Friel's tribute to the spirit and valor of the past. ~Dramatists Play Service

Performance Times: Thursday - Saturday 7:30pm, Sunday 3:00pm

Tickets may be purchased online (preferred) or at the door 30 minutes prior to curtain. Seating is limited.

The theatre will open 30 minutes prior to the performance. Guests may enjoy concessions for purchase including beer & wine. All profits go to the GJCAE 501(c)(3) for Firebox Theatre Company.

Firebox Theatre Company is located inside The Graham Johnson Cultural Arts Center aka “The Graham” at 306 S. White St. Suite 200, above The Cotton Company. This historic building, formerly a cotton warehouse, has been transformed into an intimate 65 seat black box theatre. Main entry to the theatre is located through the furthest right door of The Cotton Company. Guests who need to utilize a ramp, may find one toward the back of the building (to the right of George’s Pizza). The ramp is located on your left.
