An Evening of One Acts: Poof & The Dumb Waiter

By Lynn Nottage, Harold Pinter

Flight

by Author Giron

Firebox Theatre Company ...."creates an immersive experience. Indeed, we are plunged into the late 19th early 20th century period .... with choreographed precision."

Part of the magic of this (indeed, quite magic) production is in the ability of David Holt (as Wilbur) and Eli Brand (as Orville) to morph back-and-forth between their adult selves (as they make their attempts at flight) and their younger selves

A witty and endearing play exploring the upbringing of the famous Wright Brothers!

Debut Performance — One-Acts: Trifles & Hello. Out There

By Susan Glaspell, William Saroyan

TRIFLES: "... for 30 minutes the company transports us to rural Iowa in the 1920s. This is an absolute credit to the actors on stage....revealed, with depth and gravitas, the piece-by-piece discoveries of the crime and its motivations."

“Cassie Ford as Mrs. Peters and Cora Hemphill as Mrs. Hale deliver exceptionally resonant performances as they piece together what has happened. Both reflect their growing awareness in unspoken glances that convey their burgeoning realization of how certain small hurts eventually beget larger consequences. It is a masterful example of understatement.”

HELLO. OUT THERE: "The emotions swung high and low as the actors circled the stage, threading their collective passions through the needle-eye of Saroyan’s sharp script. In less than half-an-hour, the crucible of emotions forged a bond between Young Man and the audience, as we lamented his incarceration before the story burst through the walls -- emotionally -- to drag us into the character’s isolation.”

“Hayden Tyler offered a particularly impressive portrait of Young Man who has been accused of rape, and unfortunately, has no illusions about his fate. Tyler’s sublime performance elevated this exquisite script. Lauren Ragsdale responds tentatively, gingerly, until real chemistry generates, and they completely connect through their shared loneliness.”

Trifles A haunting mystery that begins with a recently discovered body. This play is based loosely on a murder that Glaspell herself was reporting on as a journalist for the Des Moines Daily News in 1900.

Hello. Out There This moving one-act begins and ends with a young man imprisoned in a rural Texas jail in the 1940's.
